FREE workshops – Create Your Own Design on Copper

Join artists in residence Alessandro Berini, Jayanto Tan and Selina Springett for free workshops that celebrate the vibrant Flour Mill of Summer Hill community as part of a permanent public artwork. Be part of the design process and learn some basic copper working skills in creating a Flour Mill’s community lantern!

The final work There Will Always Be a Light On for You collaborates with individual community groups to co-design and create copper lanterns that will light up Fox’s Lane in Ashfield. It stands for harmony and celebrates our passionate, diverse, multicultural society with the message that ‘here’ is home and that home is built through care for and engagement with our community, shared spaces, and each other.

Workshops open to all, but participants must be at least 8 years of age.

The first workshop is running on Saturday 22 and 29 May 2021 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm

STAGE 4 | CONSTRUCTION UPDATES | JULY 2018

The completion of the building works and settlement of the stage 4 apartments is now expected in November of December this year. We are hoping for continued fine weather to help the builders with the finalisation of the external walls and windows prior to removing the scaffold. Shortly, you will also see the commencement of the external landscaping of the areas around the building and the completion of Harvest Park. These will provide great spaces for the whole community to enjoy and ensure you are proud to call the Flour Mill home.

The builder, Richard Crookes Constructions, continues to do a great job and we are very pleased with the quality of the construction which shines when you walk into the apartments.
